It features not only digital outputs, but also digital inputs which lets you access its DAC and the Wadia magic algorithm with other components (streamers, HDD players etc).
It also features truly balanced, dual differential output and 4 x Burr-Brown PCM-1702 DAC chips. These are resistor ladder DACs with laser trimmed resistors.
These were penultimate good DACs before cheap Sigma-Delta became ubiquitous (the last being PCM-1704).
Its mechanism is Pioneer PEA1343 which took over the duties in some Wadia players when KSS-151A was no longer available.
This is not just any Pioneer Stable Platter. It is only found in two Wadias, Cary Audio Design CD-302, Enlightened Audio Design Ultrradisc 2000, flagship PDS-06 from Pioneer and 3 Theta Digital: Jade Transport, Miles and Miles balanced.
Pretty good company. It reads ANY CD or CD-R with ease.
